09:39 pm - Latest scarf
This one was a "tie it up and microwave it" effort. I was planning something christmassy but I think it came out more like "spring" - probably need to use less yellow next time.

All tied up and ready to go:

Finished and flattened:

11:46 pm - Wax on silk
I did a session on "wax on silk" at the weekend for Surrey Branch members.
We looked at different types of wax and how they react on the silk.
We did work with kiskas and brushes, and some stamping.
We also did crackling, which gave some great results.

These are a couple of sample pieces:

11:05 am - Scarves and ties
I've been having fun again ...

I got inspired by a DVD on Shibori I got at the silk guild festival, and tried out some techniques on a couple of scarves - they came out surprisingly clear:

And I had a bit of an experimental session with ties:
(1) Pink/Purple/Blue, (2) Black/Purple, (3) Purple

I'm quite pleased with these.

10:33 pm - Overpainted scarves
My new sock driers arrived - they're blue not pink, but I guess I can live with that.
So I got all excited and did a load of painting!

Had a lot of fun doing these. The great thing about the sock driers is that I can now hang my scarves up rather than folding them, which means they'll crease a lot less. Hurrah! AND keep the dust off by putting a dry cleaning bag over the top.

01:02 pm - New cards
Today I have been having fun with silk laminate and iron fix paints, and rediscovering my gutta technique.

If you let iron fix paint get "mostly dry" but not fully dry, you can then add water to get these lovely sky effects:

10:00 pm - Notebook covers
I made some silk laminate front covers for notebooks at the weekend. They were quite fun to make. I used iron fix paints as these can be hairdryered rather than steamed (you can't steam silk laminate or it separates).

I hope to make these into proper comb-bound notebooks with plain pages this week, and will post pictures soon.
